Somos Vanessa y Miguel, padres de Emilio. Emilio es nuestro primer hijo y naci\u00f3 en julio de 2023 con blefarofimosis ptosis epicanto inverso (BPES), el primer caso conocido en nuestras familias.<\/h3>\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t
\n\t\t\t\t
\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t

Emilio naci\u00f3 con un caso grave de BPES y, de no tratarse, le habr\u00eda causado problemas de visi\u00f3n, mala postura, posible ansiedad social, baja autoestima y acoso escolar. Decidimos buscar un cirujano que le ayudara a abrir los ojos, y por suerte encontramos al mejor cirujano, quien ha ayudado a Emilio y le ha cambiado la vida para siempre.<\/p>

Desafortunadamente, esta cirug\u00eda no es una opci\u00f3n para miles de beb\u00e9s, ni\u00f1os y adultos con BPES por diversas razones. La falta de acceso a informaci\u00f3n correcta, m\u00e9dicos y pediatras informados, y la falta de recursos econ\u00f3micos, hacen que algunas personas se sometan a cirug\u00edas deficientes que agravan el problema, causando cicatrices y la necesidad de m\u00faltiples cirug\u00edas, lo que les causa trauma y dolor de por vida.<\/p>

Para m\u00ed es sencillamente sorprendente la poca ayuda, asesoramiento, informaci\u00f3n y recursos que hay disponibles para las familias de portadores de BPES, ptosis y MGJWS.\u00a0<\/p>

Estamos aqu\u00ed para cambiar eso: para ser la voz y los representantes, construir una comunidad, organizar eventos, difundir informaci\u00f3n y concientizar y, lo m\u00e1s importante, recaudar dinero para que cada beb\u00e9, ni\u00f1o y adulto tenga acceso a la cirug\u00eda de mejor calidad.<\/p>

Existen diferentes opciones disponibles si padece ptosis, BPES o MGJWS. La cirug\u00eda es una opci\u00f3n, y podemos recomendarle m\u00e1s de un cirujano seg\u00fan su ubicaci\u00f3n, pero no siempre es la \u00fanica opci\u00f3n. A veces es posible no hacer nada, aprender a vivir con la afecci\u00f3n y, aun as\u00ed, llevar una muy buena calidad de vida.<\/p>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t
